The Senate of IIITA in its 18th meeting held on 24th July 2020 constituted a committee comprising of Prof. Tapobrata Lahiri (Chairman), Prof. K. C Gowda (External Member of the Senate), Prof. Neena Kohli (Allahabad University) and Prof. Neetesh Purohit (General Chair). Drafting a suitable syllabus and modalities of organizing "ORIENTATION CAMP" for new entrants at IIITA was the mandate given to the committee. After deliberations on the committees recommendations the Senate has approved the following syllabus:
Unit 1
Under theme of Proper Career Planning to selectively tap opportunities against the ethos of "Life is a bundle of lost opportunities following topics will be discussed:
1) Know your campus (KYC) and IIITA treasures under SAGE (Socializing, Associating, Governing and Experiencing) of UGC.
2) Visit and know the labs cutting across all the departments. Know the "eternal learner" theme under continuous assessment paradigm.
3) Know the highlights of the ordinance and the opportunities (dual degree, add-on, major, minor, honors etc.) therein.
4) Know the constitution of India, The administrative structure and various opportunities available to students..
5) Know Ancient Scientific Heritage of India: Ancient India’s contribution to Astronomy, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Metallurgy, Shipbuilding & Naval Engg, medical science, Architecture& Art, Music & Dance, and Sports.
Unit 2
Under the theme of Empowering Our Own Mind following topics will be discussed:
1) Anger management
2) Personality Development.
3) Energizing the mind, Confidence Building Measures, Your role as contributors and developers but not as service/job beggars.
Unit 3
Under the theme of Life Skill management following topics will be discussed:
1) Universal Human Values, Self-awareness and empathy
2) Inter-personal and communication skills
3) Creative thinking and critical thinking
4) Decision making and problem solving
5) Coping with emotions and coping with stress
Unit 4
Under the theme of "Practicing and Acquiring Mind Controlling Skill"
1) Customizing your daily routines and habits (sleeping, eating etc.) to energize mind
2) Indian spiritual heritage and Yoga
3) Practice of Meditation
